Goblet Club the play and other things

Some updates of what has been happening.

Last Saturday saw the debut of Gif, Andre Bester’s stage adaptation of The Goblet Club that was brought to life by the talented students from Hoerskool Jan van Riebeeck. These kids are amazingly talented and I was completely overwhelmed to see my characters portrayed so wonderfully by them.

I got the chance to meet the players after the performance and was completely thrown by the fact that they had all read the book, liked it, and (worst of all) were really excited at meeting me. The young man that played Mark even ran to give me an extra hug as I was leaving. I mean, that sort of thing really jumps out at you like a Jack in a Box and leaves you feeling rather jittery for a while afterward.

The play is going to the Klein Libertas in Stellenbosch next so hopefully more people will be able to see it. I’m still waiting for photos so I will post as soon as I have them.

Last night was our talk at Exclusive Books in Kloof Street. Other than an over-amorous bookseller and Derick’s obvious distraction throughout the evening about his upcoming work worries which in turn made me worried it was a success. It was really nice meeting Sarah Lotz who came out to support us and seeing a lot of familiar faces again.

The combination of nerves, white wine and antibiotics made me reveal a little too much about my plans for my next novel but the cat is out the bag now.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us!
