Reader review – Dark Poppy’s Demise
Once in a while a review comes along that humbles you. This was one of those. I found this review of my third novel, Dark Poppy’s Demise, on Goodreads.
Take S.A Partridge lightly at your peril. Laugh with Jenna, her main protagonist, and watch as that grin is wiped, clean, off your face. So much reality, contained in such short prose, so much to mull over, so much to fret along with, so much to have hoped for and been denied. Not denied, by the weight of the story telling, the style of delivery, or the ship-wrecked emotions of our leading character, but denied the frivolity of getting something better from humanity than that which they leave for us to linger with/in.
This was the very best novella I have read in a decade, and that’s really saying something, since I pride myself on my discernment, and the quality of my list. WELL DONE, you make all those highly acclaimed YA novels look like so much chaff in the wind.
Thanks Susan!
