A speciality for the dark – two new reviews
Last week saw two new reviews for Sharp Edges in the major press.
From the Mail & Guardian:
In this, her fourth novel for young adults, Partridge examines the effects of the night’s events on each of the six young people, snagging her reader on the sharp edges of her title – the jagged emotions of each the individuals involved in the horror of one misspent night.
Devoid of any preachiness, Sharp Edges nevertheless carries a message for its readers – perhaps for the parents as well – as it delves into the secrets of adolescent lives and explores the intensity of love and hate, friendship and jealousy, and loss.
Partridge specializes in dark, and this one is dark indeed. But it’s a compulsive read.
From the Cape Times:
In her latest novel, Partridge delivers her signature brand of hard-hitting young adult fiction. A harrowing story of teenage tragedy, told from the perspective of six characters. Insightful, frightening and ultimately sad.
