Bloody Parchment 2015
It’s no secret that October is my favourite month of the year. Halloween, SA Horrorfest, dress up parties, trick or treaters squealing up and down the streets. If it’s in any way spooky or scary you can count on me being there. So naturally I was delighted when I was asked to take over the Bloody Parchment event this year.
For those who don’t know, Bloody Parchment is the official literary evening of South African Horrorfest and for a long time has been the only Halloween reading event of its kind in Cape Town.
Over the past five years we’ve hosted the country’s best contemporary writers, like Sarah Lotz, Lauren Beukes, Henrietta Rose-Innes and Rachel Zadok, to name a few, as well the winners of the Bloody Parchment short story competition.
This year we have ten amazing authors lined-up and a new venue – the historic Labia cinema (which may or may not be haunted!)
So please join us on Thursday 29 October, if you dare, for a night of terrifying tales in one of the city’s most atmospheric venues. There are absolutely fangtastic prizes for the best dressed, so come as your favourite ghoul or beastie.
